Hospital Highlights

Forty-five years ago, the landscape of healthcare on Long Island changed forever with the opening of Stony Brook University Hospital (SBUH). On February 18, 1980, the hospital admitted its first two patients and in May of that year, the first baby was born there. Since that time, SBUH has grown into the premier academic medical center on Long Island and has seen millions of patients walk through its doors.
